May is the James J. Smith Bonsai Gallery's 1 Year Anniversary Celebration
What’s next at Heathcote? We will be celebrating the 1 Year Anniversary of the James J. Smith Bonsai Gallery on Friday, May 25, 2012. The celebration will be held in the James J. Smith Bonsai Gallery starting at 5 pm. Guests will enjoy appetizers and beverages, music, and a short presentation and toast to all those who made the Gallery possible. Tickets are $15 each or 2 for $25. The celebration in honor of the Bonsai Gallery will continue on Saturday, May 26thwith Heathcote’s curator, Patrick Giacobbe, who will conduct a special Bonsai Workshop. At the workshop, participants will receive a bonsai, pot, and soil, along with a guided class for putting your own bonsai in a pot, how to care for the bonsai, and develop your unique vision for your bonsai. 2nd Annual Bonsai Ball a Success!
The Board of Trustees and staff at Heathcote Botanical Gardens sincerely thank the guests, sponsors, volunteers; entertainment and media personnel who helped cover the 2ndAnnual Bonsai Ball on March 31, 2012. What an amazing evening filled with mystical entertainment from the Vero Beach Karate Association, the Taiko Drummers, a strolling dragon by Judy Coffman, music from the Fort Pierce Jazz Society, a smoking dragon suspended in the dining area, the awesome auction items, and the delicious food by The Mellon Patch! The gracious support of many helped Heathcote Botanical Gardens gross over $24,000! Thank you! The Bonsai Ball committee is looking forward to the 3rdAnnual Bonsai Ball!
Bonsai Study Group
The Heathcote Botanical Gardens Bonsai Study Group meets in the James J. Smith Bonsai Gallery Pavilion on the last Saturday of each month from 10:30 am - 2 pm. The next meeting is on Saturday, June 30, 2012.
The Bonsai Study Group is free for Heathcote Members. Regular Admission prices apply for non-members. Memberships support the Bonsai Gallery and Botanical Gardens' operation.
On Saturday, May 26, 2012 a special workshop in honor of the 1st Anniversary of the James J. Smith Bonsai Gallery will be conducted. Spaces are limited to 7 people and the fee is $25.00. Each participant will receive a bonsai, pot and soil and will be directed by our curator while planting your bonsai. In addition, information on caring for the bonsai be will given as well.
