JANUARY 2008

Saturday, 1/12, 9am-noon. Bamboo and You! with Cheryl Friend. Learn all about selections, uses, cultivation and propagation of intriguing, beautiful bamboo. Exclusive bamboo “mini” plant sale preview included. (Public plant sale begins at noon.) $20 members / $25 non-members.

Sat. 1/26 9am-4pm GAGA Girls Art Workshop Learn the same techniques Ginny Piech Street and Anita Prentice use to create their fun and colorful art. Enjoy and learn from Ginny & Anita's relaxed and open-minded approach to creativity Go home with an original collage and a mosaic that you create yourself! Includes lunch in the Gardens. $70 members / $75 non-members.

 

FEBRUARY 2008

Wednesday, 2/6, 10am* Table Top Topiaries Workshop with Jeannette Waltz. Make and take an incredibly versatile centerpiece decoration using live ivy. Table Top Topiaries are perfect for any holiday, wedding, festive event, home or patio decor! All materials and instructions included. $25 members / $30 non-members.

 

Saturday 2/16, 9am – noon, Build a Beauty of a Birdhouse with Kasey Libuha & Ginny Piech Street. Includes all materials to assemble and paint a take-home birdhouse. Extra kits will be available. Bring a Phillips-head screwdriver and a drill if you have one, please. $30 members / $35 non-members.

 

MARCH 2008

03/01 Saturday 9:30 – 11am Orchids 101 with Angie James. Learn about orchid selection, care and propagation from Heathcote's orchid curator. You'll take home a small orchid of your own, and a greater understanding of how to enable it to thrive! $20 members / $25 non-members. Class limit 25

 

Saturday 3/8 1pm* Gardening for the Birds with Amy Dahan. Common American songbirds are a joy in the home garden. Did you know they are on the decline? Learn what you can do to help them flourish in your yard and neighborhood. Includes mini-plant sale of native bird food source plants. $10 members / $15 non-members.

 

Saturday 3/15 9am* Irrigation Retrofit with Ed Skvarch . Ed will cover the basics of residential irrigation system maintenance, including how to calibrate your home irrigation system to provide for maximum uniformity with minimum zone runtime. Pop-ups, rotors and drip systems will be discussed outdoors with demos on Heathcote's system. $10 members / $15 non-members.

 

Saturday 3/22 9am* Landscaping to Conserve Energy with Ed Skvarch. Explore important and often overlooked elements of home landscape design. The proper placement of landscape plantings can reduce energy costs while adding to the safety and value of your home!   $10 members / $15 non-members.

 

APRIL 2008

Saturday 4/12 9am* Arranging in the Asian Manner Jeannette Waltz $45-50 Learn the concepts of shape and space, and basic styles of ikebana , the Japanese art of floral arranging. Includes instruction, container and all supplies. Take home your lovely creation and a fresh take on an ancient art. $40 members / $45 non-members.

 

Saturday 4/26 9am – noon, Introduction to Bonsai Workshop with Richard Turner & Jim Van Landingham of the Treasure Coast Bonsai Society. Learn the principles of the ancient art of Bonsai in this hands-on workshop. Take home your creation! $30 members / $35 non-members .
