3rd ANNUAL HOLIDAY NON-PROFIT MARKET

Saturday, December 12, 2009.  10AM - 4PM.

Shop for special gifts offered by Treasure Coast charities and nonprofit organizations.  Season tickets, original art, fair trade imports, memberships, unique, meaningful and handmade gifts along with holiday foods and treats.  The holiday gifts you purchase will double as a gift to the charity you purchase from!

FREE ADMISSION ALL DAY - Our Christmas gift to you!

Santa and Mrs. Claus will join us from noon to 3PM for a free visit!

January - February 2010

HEATHCOTE KIDS GARDEN WINTER-SPRING SESSION

Every Thursday, January 15 - May 13, 4:30PM - 5:30PM.

Activities include historical readings, research and planting of traditional food crops, tending the garden, discovering beneficial insects as well as pests. Arts and crafts are woven into the program along with math, science and social skills that captivate the children in the outdoor classroom. Every session includes lots of lessons about food history, choices, preparation and enjoyment. Families and children of all ages welcome.

$10 Registration fee per family for entire session.

ARBOR DAY CELEBRATION and ECO-VOLUNTEER FAIR

Friday, January 15, 10AM - 2PM.

Planting a tree is the traditional way to celebrate Arbor Day. The Eco-Volunteer Fair will celebrate Arbor Day by planting people in positions that serve the environment year-round. Admission to the Gardens is free all day. From 10am to 2pm, visitors can visit with representatives from agencies that utilize volunteers in their mission to educate the public and protect and preserve our cherished Treasure Coast environment.

Participating organizations include the Conservation Alliance, Department of Environmental Protection, Florida Native Plant Society, Friends of the Savannas Preserve, Heathcote Botanical Gardens , Manatee Observation & Education Center , Oxbow Eco-Center, St. Lucie County Tourism, Save the Chimps and the Surfrider Foundation. Volunteer opportunities range from rugged outdoor work to staffing indoor gift shops or education centers. Many organizations need tour guides, and organizational and clerical skills are always appreciated.

Purchase a Native Tree - select from Dahoon Holly, Gumbo Limbo, Green Buttonwood or Florida Scrub Oak.  $20 - $40 includes membership in the Reclamation Project.  Visit www.reclamationproject.net.

PAINTING WITH WATERCOLORS

3 Fridays - January 8, 15, 22.  10AM - 1PM.

Featuring Laura Tarquino, certified to teahc the Terry Madden techniques.  Students will complete a watercolor painting at each class.  All materials included in class fee.

Members $35 per class / Non-members $40 per class

FERTILIZER BASICS & BEYOND

Saturday, January 16.  9AM - 11AM.

wiyh Lou Forget of Diamond R Fertilizer of Fort Pierce.  A thorough presentation on selecting and applying fertilizer to achieve excellent results all year long.  Back by popular demand!
