The Heathcote Botanical Gardens Bonsai Study Group meets in the James J. Smith Bonsai Gallery Pavilion on the last Saturday of each month from 10:30 am - 2 pm. The next meeting is on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012
The Guest Bonsai Artist will be International Bonsai Artist Ed Trout. Ed is a multi-talented and knowledgeable international bonsai artist. Ed's achievements in bonsai are legendary but what is outstanding about Ed is his philosophy of bonsai. It is poetic. His love for the art and his predecessors is unchallenged. Ed is extending his generosity by offering to photograph your bonsai to enter the John Naka award held by the American Bonsai Society. Besides the photo session, Ed will be available to guide you in the right direction to better your bonsai. School Tours / Children's Educational Programs
Heathcote’s Children’s Garden, under the guidance of Nannette Billings meets Thursdays from 4:30 to 5:30 pm.
Heathcote offers guided tours with programs for school groups of all ages and grade levels. Our tours introduce children to botanical gardens and the wonderful world of plants. For teen-aged school groups, a trip to the garden can not only introduce them to the science of botany and horticulture, but also the many different career fields associated with this type of educational facility or an area of interest for them to pursue. The level of interpretation is adapted to the specific age level.
Please call the Garden’s office at 772-464-4672 and speak to the Activities Coordinator to arrange school tours/programs or email
