2020 Garden of Lights
Frequently Asked Questions

Discover the answers to some of the most commonly asked questions about Garden of Lights. Questions specific to members can be found below.

How are you planning to handle Covid-19 this year?
Heathcote Botanical Gardens follows all CDC guidelines. Masks that cover both your nose and mouth are required for all visitors. Garden of Lights 2020 has been designed with one-way walking paths. You can take your time and enjoy the lights but you must go with the traffic flow.  Hand sanitizer stations are set up in the Garden. Heathcote Botanical Gardens takes the health and safety of their volunteers, staff, and visitors very seriously. You may be asked to leave the event if you are not wearing a mask. If you are unable to wear a mask for health reasons you should not plan on attending Garden of Lights this year.

How can I buy tickets?
Buy your tickets ahead online to save time, help the flow of traffic, and ensure all guests have an exceptional experience at Garden of Lights. Pre-purchased printed tickets enable guests to go through Will Call express ticket lane at the Field Admissions upon arrival. You can also buy tickets at the gate when you arrive. Tickets are transferable and valid any night of Garden of Lights 2020. Tickets are non-refundable. Members of HBG get a discounted price ($5 per adult), whether tickets are purchased online or on-site. For more information please contact Info@Heathcotebotanicalgardens.org or call (772) 464-4672.

When I buy tickets online, will they be mailed?
No, a confirmation email will be sent to the address you provide when purchasing your tickets. Printable confirmation will be included in an attachment to that email. Please print these tickets and bring them with you to the event, or you can show them on your smartphone or other mobile devices. A special express line at Field Admissions will be set up for guests who have their printed tickets ready to be checked/scanned. If you cannot find your tickets, the Admissions desk can look your reservation up by the registered name when it was purchased.

What should I wear?
Garden of Lights is an outdoor event and we recommend dressing for the weather and wearing comfortable walking shoes!

What if there’s bad weather?
We’ll post on our website and FACEBOOK if we need to close because of the rain. Purchased tickets are good throughout Garden of Lights and can be used any evening. Slightly rainy nights are a good time to come, as the crowds are less and the reflected lights take on an iridescent glow.

How long should I plan on staying?
We recommend planning to spend an hour at the Gardens to really get the full experience from Garden of Lights.

Can I bring my dog?
No, not for Garden of Lights. While Heathcote Botanical Garden is pet friendly in the daytime we do NOT allow dogs in the Garden for nighttime events. Please leave your dog at home for Garden of Lights. Come visit Heathcote during regular open hours and bring your dog.

Should I bring my flashlight?
Flashlights can be helpful getting around in the darker areas of the parking lots, but throughout the Gardens there will be thousands of lights along the paths.

Can I come early to walk around the gardens?
Gates will open at 5:30 p.m. and allow time to enjoy the Gardens before the sunsets. Pricing remains the same.  $5 members, $10 non-members, and & $3 for children ages 6-12.

Do I pay for parking?
No! But we are limited by the number of parking spaces along with the empty lots adjacent to the Gardens on the west side of the campus.

Will Garden of Lights be accessible for everyone?
The majority of Garden of Lights takes place in the Main Garden area, which includes ADA accessible walkways.  Two complimentary wheelchairs are available on a first come, first served basis, weather permitting.

What refreshments will be available?
Food trucks will be onsite for the duration of the event. Check back on our Facebook page and website for more information on offerings.

Will the Gardens Gift Shop be open?
The Garden Gift Shop will be closed due to Covid-19 but a special Garden of Lights outdoor, open-air shopping experience will be available with special holiday selections as well as necklaces and 3-D glasses & light up necklaces for the children, too!
